The multi-talented and “even more fabulous” , motivational speaker, and humorist. Mother Love has lost over 100 pounds and has improved her diabetes management through hard choices and healthy lifestyle changes. She is a published author; veteran of television sitcoms, radio, talk, and music shows; film actress; and advice columnist. Her mission is to enlighten people everywhere on the importance of better managed diabetes care.

An accomplished author, Mother Love has written her third book, Half the MOTHER Twice the LOVE, published by Atria Books (a div. of Simon & Schuster 2006). She has also penned two advice-based books: Listen Up Girlfriends (St. Martin’s Press 1995) and Forgive or Forget: Never Underestimate the Power of Forgiveness (HarperCollins 1999).
In addition to her writing, Mother Love has done over 250 radio interviews to promote diabetes awareness—the disease affecting more than 9 million people—with The American Diabetes Association’s I DECIDE to FIGHT diabetes campaign. Mother Love is also an ADA Research Ambassador.
Mother Love has appeared in 13 films to date, and she has also hosted the syndicated daytime talk show Forgive or Forget and a late night show, The Mother Love Show.
Her advice column, “Tell Mother Love,” is featured in the Cleveland Call & Post, The Crusader Magazine, The Urban Magazine, and Los Angeles’ Freedom Journal newspaper.

Mother Love was honored with the 2010 USC Anneburg School of Journalism and Communications History Makers Award and will be honored as The Most Inspirational Woman from Women In Business for 2010. In 2009 she received the C.H.A.P. award for community service and was the recipient of the American Diabetes Association’s Volunteer of the Year for 2008. She was also the recipient of the 2007 Living History Makers Award in Arts & Entertainment from Turning Point Inc. and the 2006 Women of Courage Award for her work with diabetes, presented by Los Angeles affiliate ABC-7. She received the 2005 Eli Lily for Life Award for Excellence in Journalism and the 2005 Urban Leadership International Urban Angel Award for community service and philanthropy. Mother Love has received many other awards, citations, and commendations from organizations and local and state officials nationwide.
August 13th is Mother Love Day in her hometown of Cleveland, OH. Mother Love and her family have made Southern California their home since 1989.
