Project Description
Mike Echols was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and is best known for playing as a cornerback with the Tennessee Titans. He played football for his entire four years at the University of Wisconsin and was drafted to the Titans in 2002. With the Titans, Echols has a career record of 32 tackles in nine NFL games, and Big Ten Conference honors. He has been signed with several NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions.
In 2006, Echols ended his professional career playing in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
As a person with type 1 diabetes, Echols has kept in shape for football by constantly monitoring his blood sugar and diet. He believes that conditions like diabetes can make one stronger with careful management and encourages aspiring athletes with diabetes to work hard to achieve their goals.
